Livestock markets gain ground again in Tuesday's trade. More upside left, or due for a pause?![]() Live Cattle (June)June live cattle futures were able to work higher again in yesterday’s trade, closing right in the middle of our pivot pocket from 199.60-199.975. If the Bulls can achieve consecutive closes above this pocket, we believe it would open the door for a potential run at the April 4th gap, which comes in from 203.25-204.20. If the cash market stays steady or firms, that could offer a nice tailwind to get that accomplished. Resistance: 203.25-204.20**, 206.92-207.30**
Cutout values were softer on Tuesday afternoon with choice cuts .20 lower to 335.43 and select cuts .61 lower to 315.24. The 5-area average price for live steers was reported at 208.00 on light volume. Slaughter was reported at 122k head. The CME feeder Cattle Index is at 288.07 with the NBW Real-Time Index showing 286.75 as of this morning.
